Outlaws D4 Vs. Bristol Buccaneers

26th April 2026

Outlaws hand unbeaten Bristol first losses of the season with statement sweep

Plymouth Outlaws delivered a standout performance at Plymstock, beating Bristol Buccaneers 11-8 and 10-1 to hand the visitors their first defeats of the 2026 season.

Across the double header, the Outlaws found two different ways to win: taking their chances late in Game 1, and backing it up with a complete performance in Game 2.

Game 1: Outlaws turn pressure into walk-off win (11-8)

Plymouth took the opener 11-8, finding a way to win despite being outhit 10 to 7.

Bristol built their innings through contact, including a five-run fourth that put them

in front, but Plymouth stayed within reach by continuing to get runners on base.

The Outlaws drew nine walks, extending innings and forcing Bristol to keep making

plays.

That difference showed in the scoring:

  • 11 runs from 7 hits for Plymouth

  • 8 runs from 10 hits for Bristol

The Outlaws made more of their opportunities.

On the mound, Matt Ball struck out 7 in 4.2 innings, doing enough to keep the game within reach while Bristol were building their lead.

By the final inning, the pressure Plymouth had built throughout the game paid off.

With runners on and the game level, Daniel Herrera drove a three-run home run to right-centre to end it, sealing an 11-8 win.

Game 2: Early pressure and key defensive stand secure 10-1 win

Plymouth followed up the opener with a 10-1 win, built on a fast start at the plate and a standout defensive sequence in the middle innings.

The Outlaws set the tone early. After getting through the top of the first, they broke the game open in the bottom half. Herrera reached to start things off, and hits from Iman Samarakoon and Danidu Samarakoon, combined with pressure on the bases, produced four runs in the first inning.

They continued to build from there. In the second, Herrera doubled, and Plymouth added further runs through consistent contact and productive at-bats, extending the lead and keeping Bristol under pressure.

Bristol’s best opportunity came in the fourth.

A Nichols double, followed by walks to Bernard and Lacey, loaded the bases with no outs and put Plymouth under pressure.

The response was immediate.

A fly ball to centre field was taken cleanly for the first out, followed by a strong throw from Jack Parsons to prevent the runner from tagging and scoring. On the next play, the ball was hit into right, but Matt Ball threw a laser from right field all the way to the catcher, holding it to a single and limiting the damage to just one run.

With runners still on, the Outlaws finished the inning with two strikeouts, getting out of the situation with minimal damage.

From there, Daniel Herrera controlled the game on the mound, finishing with 5 innings, 1 run allowed on 4 hits, and 6 strikeouts, while the Outlaws continued to add runs to close out a 10-1 win.

A complete weekend against one of the division’s strongest sides.
