10th May 2026
Game Day Recap – Plymouth Outlaws II @ Exeter Wyverns
The Plymouth Outlaws continued their season with a challenging double-header against the Exeter Wyverns, falling 14-11 in game one before a difficult 21-3 result in game two. Despite the results, the weekend provided plenty of positives, standout individual performances, and valuable experience for a developing Outlaws squad.
Game 1 – It was an entertaining back-and-forth battle that immediately showcased the offensive potential within the Outlaws lineup. After Exeter took an early lead, we responded brilliantly in the bottom of the first inning. Sam Klang got things started before Nathan Joy and James Pollard both picked up hits, allowing Chris Peirce to drive in two runs with a huge double to left centre. Jake Plumley later added another RBI single as we exploded for five runs in the inning.
The offence continued throughout the game. James Pollard delivered a triple and multiple RBIs, Nathan Joy consistently got on base, and Morgan Parkinson added key hits as we kept pace with Exeter inning after inning. Strong contributions came right through the lineup, with Jake Plumley, Sam Klang, Stuart Kellie, and Chris Peirce all helping to keep pressure on the Wyverns defence.
Although Exeter eventually edged ahead late on, the Outlaws showed resilience throughout and continued fighting until the final out. Scoring 11 runs in the opening game of the double-header was an encouraging sign for the season ahead.
Chris Peirce was deservedly named MVP for game one after a standout offensive performance, collecting multiple hits and delivering huge RBIs in key moments. Peirce and Pollard both secured perfect hitting games, going 3-for-3 at the plate. Honourable mention also goes to Morgan Parkinson for an outstanding defensive performance, including a superb sliding catch to secure a crucial out.
Game 2 proved tougher as Exeter capitalised on walks, stolen bases, and momentum innings to secure a 21-3 victory. Despite the scoreline, the Outlaws continued competing throughout and again produced positive moments offensively.
Stuart Kellie got the bats going early in game two before James Pollard and Nathan Joy both drove in runs during the second inning. Joe Dunn later added another RBI in the fourth, while Morgan Parkinson, Taff Mercer, Millie Ashdown, and Bobby Trotman all continued to battle at the plate and on the bases.
James Pollard was named MVP for game two after another excellent all-round performance. Alongside contributing offensively with another perfect game at the plate and RBIs across the day, Pollard also caught both games behind the plate, showing outstanding endurance, leadership, and composure while commanding the field and guiding the pitching staff throughout the double-header.
While the weekend produced two losses, there were still plenty of encouraging signs for the Outlaws. The team showed offensive capability, aggression on the bases, resilience under pressure, and a strong team spirit throughout both games.
For many players, it was another important step in their development, and with lessons learned from opening weekend, the Outlaws now look ahead to the rest of the season ready to continue improving together.
